What information do we collect about you?

We collect information about you when you instruct SFR Law Ltd to act on your behalf in legal matters or when you make an enquiry about our services via our website when completing a ‘Contact Us’ form or when you speak to us by telephone.

We store information about you as so that we can provide legal services as set out in the terms and conditions included in our services agreement called a Client Care Letter or Letter of Engagement. How will we use the information about you?

We collect information about you so we can respond to questions you have raised normally of a legal nature. If you decide to be represented by us your data will be subject to the terms set out in the Client Care Letter. If you do not become a client of SFR Law Ltd we will retain your data under the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

We use information collected from the website to personalise your repeat visits to our website by the use of cookies. Your data will not be passed on to any third party without your consent except in an anonymised format comprising IP address, device used to access our website, including date, time and location for the sole purpose of improving the user experience on our website.

If you become a client of SFR Law Ltd we may share your personal information with other parties for the purposes set out in our Client Care Letter for the best conduct of your case. These parties include other professionals such as Barristers, Accountants and Medical Specialists who are all subject to the provisions of the GDPR.

SFR Law Ltd use third party contractors to maintain our computer systems and our website and they may have access your personal data. All third party contractors to SFR Law Ltd who may view and process data have provided confirmation of their compliance with GDPR regulations and the safeguarding of any personal data held on our computer systems or website and on any computer system required to be used by the third party.

Depending on the circumstances of your legal case, SFR Law Ltd may be required to pass your personal data to authorities such as the Legal Aid Agency and HM Courts and Tribunal Service.

How long we retain the information about you?

As a legal firm based in England and Wales we are required to retain all client data for a minimum of six years after which time under the terms set out in the GDPR you can request its removal. Personal data held from a website or telephone enquiry where the individual providing the personal data does not become a client of SFR Law Ltd can request deletion of their personal data at any time.

Privacy regarding children

For the purposes of the GDPR children are defined as those aged 13 and under. Special provisions apply to how we process data relating to children and in such circumstances we will require consent of a parent and/or an appropriate adult.

SFR Law Ltd may write, telephone or email individuals who are clients of the business whilst their matter is in progress or completed on the basis of processing for legitimate purposes.
